Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Psalm 103:1-2
If you have a few minutes, try brainstorming a list of all the benefits you know of because of your knowledge and relationship with Christ. And then, Praise The Lord! Sure do hope you had a blessed Christmas.

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” - Luke 2:8-11
I can imagine that these shepherds must have gotten Holy Ghost Bumps when that angel spoke to them! What a night that must have been.

The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him… Nahum 1:7
Holidays are not always happy days. But take heart, remember today’s verse. Cling to Him in faith.

“[Mary’s Song] And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.” - Luke 1:46-47, 49
It is a wonderful thing to recognize when God is working in one’s life. Mary recognized. And today’s verse shows that. Think about how it would be to have been in Mary’s sandals. Most women would have been beside themselves with fear. Pregnant. Out of wedlock. Visited by an angel. So much to take in. Fear. Doubt. Apprehension. And yet Mary BELIEVES! It is because of her belief that she is able to rejoice when other women would have spiraled down into a clinical depression.
Can you recognize God working in your life? Look carefully. He is waiting for you to see. And when you do, rejoice. For He desires to do great things in your life. Holy is His name!

“But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”” - Luke 1:30-33
I love this time of the year. And the cool thing is, this year, we can just enjoy the spiritual part of it on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day because our kids are coming to visit in January and we are celebrating Christmas then!
But, we have an incredible Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. on the 24th. We would love you to join us if you live in Spokane!

“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.” - Galatians 4:4-5
Our daughter is adopted, so we have a first hand sense of what adoption is all about. God chose Crissy just for us to complete our family. That’s how it was with God when He sent Jesus to dwell on Earth. Jesus came that we could be redeemed. And when we accept that gift of redemption, He adopts us into His eternal family. That to me is what amazing grace is all about!

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” - John 15:5,8
I have learned over time that God really DOES know what is best and He sees the full picture. (I’m glad I don’t!) So, as long as I remain in Him, He will help me to do the right thing…the GOD thing!

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
If you’ve ever tried finding you way around in the dark, you know first hand that it is easy to get bumps and bruised and to get pretty banged up. But that doesn’t happen so much when we have light to see. And so it is with today’s verse and it should give you real peace of mind…and a lot less reason to need band aids all the time!

“Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” - John 10:7, 9-10
It is pretty reassuring to me to know that it is Jesus at the gate watching over me.
